Erfahrungsbericht von Wanika neu Rey aus Ungarn
Publiziert: Mittwoch, 23.02.2022
It has been almost one year since we adopted Rey (previously known as Wanika) at the end of March 2021. What an adventure it has been!
When we first picked up Rey on arrival, she was a little nervous and we could see she was cautious in her new environment. However, after we spent the first 10 minutes calming her and holding her in the car before driving her home, she already became less anxious and was smiling happily at all the green around. She kept glancing out of the car window and was so overjoyed to see the sunshine and green all around.
As we live in a very green area with a garden, and lots of natural light she took to the new home very well. It took some time but within a few weeks she was fully house trained. We also took a 10-week dog training course to fully train her to learn basic commands and walk on leash. Even at the dog course, despite her youth and energy everyone including us were very impressed at how intelligent Rey was and how quickly she learnt everything.
Rey was at first also very scared of doors, and of new people. However, with some socialising and regular conditioning she loves everyone around her. Rey is playful and curious about the world. She loves going on new adventures as well as meeting new people and other dogs. She is one of the sweetest, friendliest, playful, loving, and intelligent dogs we and many of our dog loving friends have met. She almost never barks and loves greeting everyone she meets in a friendly manner.
Rey also loves to play and wants to be outside all the time. We regularly take her to the forests and lakes nearby us in Zurich. In August 2021, we took her to Italy for our first holiday together. She loved the beach and anyone that met her always wanted to give her affection and cuddles. She regularly receives a lot of compliments, on her beautiful and friendly face and people are very curious as to what kind of dog she is. Food is always the biggest motivator for her as well as lots of cuddles and attention which she gets plenty of!
Rey is now a teenage dog, and is sometimes a bit cheeky, but overall is an amazing dog, companion, and member of our family. We take her almost everywhere with us, to friends’ houses, to the city centre and on adventures in and around Switzerland. Our parents refer to her as their grandchild, and she gives infinite love to everyone she meets.
She has great recall and whilst she is curious about the world around her, she always stays or comes back to us. We recently celebrated the first Christmas and New Year with her, and we look forward to spending our lives together with Rey.
For anyone asking we always speak of the amazing work Animal Happyend does and always recommend this shelter to anyone we know wanting a new dog. We will forever be delighted to have adopted Rey into our lives, and we cherish her dearly. It feels like she was meant to find us in this life! Thank you, Animal Happyend, for finding the perfect fit for us and bringing beautiful Rey into our lives.
Warm Regards, S & H
(Mum and Dad to Rey)
